CLTS Activities In Kenya

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Public Health and sanitation Kenya Mr.The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health and sanitation (Kenya) Mr. Mark Bor offi cially opening the National CLTS and Knowledge Management Hub (Kenya) on Behalf of the Minister, Hon Beth Mugo.CLTS activities started in Kenya in 2007,through a partner; namely Plan Kenya.The Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation participatedin the fi rst and second regional training workshops. TheMinistry took the training positively and ventured into thenew approach by requesting partners to support CLTSCapacity-building in fi ve regions. Towards the end of 2009the Ministry, with support from UNICEF Kenya CountryOffi ce, contracted NETWAS International to carry outcapacity-building for Public Health Offi cers in fi ve regions.The Kenya Government, through the Ministry of PublicHealth and Sanitation, thought of having a differentapproach to the training, implementation, follow-up,verifi cation and monitoring process.Several factors led to the Government initiative andinvolvement into the new approach.
